MINUTES SENATE FINANCE COMMITTEE 3 April, 1998 9:05 a.m. TAPES SFC 98 # 111, Side A (000-571) CALL TO ORDER Senator Bert Sharp, Co-chair, convened the meeting at approximately 9:05 a.m. PRESENT In addition to Co-chairman Sharp, Senators Pearce, Donley and Parnell were present when the meeting was convened. Senator Phillips arrived shortly thereafter. Also Attending: DAN SPENCER, Chief Budget Analyst, Office of Management and Budget, Office of the Governor; JIM BALDWIN, Assistant Attorney General, Governmental Affairs Section, Department of Law; JENNIFER BELL, Natives for Sobriety; MIKE GREANY, Director, Division of Legislative Finance; DAVE TONKOVICH, Fiscal Analyst, DLF; and aides to committee members and other members of the Legislature. SUMMARY INFORMATION SENATE BILL NO. 229 "An Act making appropriations for the operating and loan program expenses of state government, for certain programs, and to capitalize funds; making appropriations under art. IX, sec. 17(c), Constitution of the State of Alaska, from the constitutional budget reserve fund; and providing for an effective date." RESULTS BASED GOVERNMENT WORKSESSION Focusing on: FINAL REVIEW: UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA PROFESSIONAL TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMS AND GOVERNMENTAL COORDINATION Co-Chair Sharp announced the objectives for this meeting would be to complete the work on missions and measures statements for the teacher training and governmental coordination programs. The committee would then bring bills to the table for discussion. Senator Parnell moved for adoption of the Program Review for THE UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM into the working budget document. There was no objection and Co- Chair Sharp so ordered. Senator Parnell then offered a motion to adopt the GOVERNMENTAL COORDINATION Program Review - the entire packet of programs - into the working budget. Without objection, it was adopted. ADJOURNMENT This concluded the Results Based Government Work Session portion of the meeting. The committee started taking up bills.
