HB 18-PARENTAL LIABILITY FOR CHILD'S DAMAGE Number 0019 CHAIR McGUIRE announced that the only order of business would be HOUSE BILL NO. 18, "An Act relating to the liability of parents and legal guardians of minors who destroy property." [Before the committee were CSHB 18(JUD) am and SCS CSHB 18(HES).] CHAIR McGUIRE indicated that the committee would take up SCS CSHB 18(HES). Number 0067 SENATOR DYSON moved to adopt Conceptual Amendment 1 to SCS CSHB 18(HES), which reads as follows [original punctuation provided]: 1 Page 2, Line 1: 2 Delete "25,000" 3 Insert "15,000" 4 5 Page 2, Line 5: 6 After "However," 7 Insert "if either or both parents have insurance that would compensate the 8 claimant for civil damages awarded against either or both parents, either or 9 both parents shall be liable for civil damages described in this subsection not 10 to exceed $25,000." There being no objection, Conceptual Amendment 1 was adopted. Number 0092 SENATOR DYSON moved to report SCS CSHB 18(HES), as amended, out of committee [with individual recommendations and the accompanying fiscal notes]. There being no objection, CCS HB 18 was reported from the Conference Committee on HB 18.
