ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE HOUSE RULES STANDING COMMITTEE October 23, 2001 10:00 a.m. COMMITTEE CALENDAR OVERVIEW ON NETRICITY BY JIM DODSON OF MDU RESOURCES (reference HCR 17) TAPES O1- 18, SIDE A CALL TO ORDER Representative Kott, Chair, called the House Rules Standing Committee to order at 10:00 a.m. PRESENT Those present at the call to order were Representatives Kott, McGuire, and Morgan. Representative Lancaster was also in attendance. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION JIM DODSON and MICHAEL CASKEY, Netricity LLC, provided the committee with an update of the Netricity project. It was noted that the critical matter at the moment is in regard to securing a gas contract or options on a gas contract. Therefore, that is the primary reason the two are in Alaska this week, to meet with the oil companies. Pending the finalization of the gas purchase agreements, the engineering study of the project would start. A question and answer session followed during which the lack of time to have a contract by the first day of session, the unclearness of the state's right to overlift gas, and the issue of power through natural gas were discussed. CHAIRMAN KOTT expressed the need for this project to move forward in the most expeditious timeframe possible. ANNOUNCEMENTS There were no announcements. COMMITTEE ACTION The committee took no action. ADJOURNMENT The House Rules Standing Committee meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m. NOTE: The meeting was recorded.
