ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 02-2, SIDE A  Number 001 CO-CHAIR RANDY PHILLIPS called the Ombudsman Selection Committee meeting to order at 2:15 p.m. All members were present. Co-Chair Phillips announced that Suzan Armstrong was available to be interviewed via teleconference from Missouri on a private line. SENATOR BEN STEVENS moved that the committee go into executive session pursuant to Uniform Rule 22(b)(2), "for discussion of subjects that tend to prejudice the reputation of the character of the persons involved." 2:17 p.m. CO-CHAIR PHILLIPS announced that without objection, the committee would go into executive session to interview Peter Giannini. 2:50 p.m. CO-CHAIR PHILLIPS thanked Mr. Giannini. At 2:55 p.m., the committee returned to executive session to interview Ms. Armstrong. 3:32 p.m. CO-CHAIR PHILLIPS announced the committee completed its interview of Suzan Armstrong. He then announced the committee would recess for a few minutes before interviewing the next candidate. CO-CHAIR PHILLIPS reconvened the meeting and announced the presence of Representatives Berkowitz, McGuire, and Co-Chair Kott. He noted that Senator Stevens was in a committee meeting and would return soon. REPRESENTATIVE BERKOWITZ moved to go into executive session pursuant to Uniform Rule 22(b)(2). 4:10 p.m. CO-CHAIR PHILLIPS announced that without objection, the committee would go into executive session to interview Linda Lord-Jenkins. 4:22 p.m. CO-CHAIR PHILLIPS thanked Ms. Lord-Jenkins and the committee returned to executive session for the purpose of interviewing Theda Pittman. 4:49 p.m. CO-CHAIR PHILLIPS announced that the committee concluded its interview with Ms. Pittman. He informed members that the committee would meet on April 18, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. to interview the other four candidates.
