ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE  HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON OIL AND GAS April 6, 2001 8:10 a.m. COMMITTEE CALENDAR  PRESENTATION BY BACKBONE: "ALASKA'S GAS, ALASKA'S FUTURE" TAPES  01-25, SIDES A & B 01-26, SIDE A CALL TO ORDER  REPRESENTATIVE HUGH FATE, Vice Chair, called the House Special Committee on Oil and Gas meeting to order at 8:10 a.m. PRESENT  Committee members present were Representatives Fate, Ogan (via teleconference), Chenault, Joule, and Dyson. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION  CHRISTY McGRAW, BACKBONE; and MIKE METZ, M.C. Metz and Associates, gave a summary presentation of a report produced by BACKBONE, previously distributed to all members of the legislature early in the session. Offered during the presentation were written testimony and a PowerPoint presentation (hard copy provided to members). The presentation included study objectives, research topics, gas development objectives, markets, LNG [liquefied natural gas], various routes being considered, jobs, the role of the legislature, more areas for investigation, and recommendations. This was followed by a question-and-answer period with committee members. ANNOUNCEMENTS  There were no announcements.  COMMITTEE ACTION  The committee took no action.
