ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE  HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON OIL AND GAS January 25, 2001 10:05 a.m. COMMITTEE CALENDAR  "SEVEN SNAPSHOTS OF OIL & GAS IN ALASKA," PART 2, AK OIL & GAS ASSOCIATION TAPES  01-5, SIDES A & B 01-6, SIDE A CALL TO ORDER  REPRESENTATIVE SCOTT OGAN, Chair, called the House Special Committee on Oil and Gas meeting to order at 10:05 a.m. PRESENT  Committee members present were Representatives Ogan, Dyson, Chenault, Fate, Kohring, Guess, and Joule. Also in attendance were Representatives Lancaster, Green, McGuire, and Morgan. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION  The committee continued hearing a two-part basic introduction to oil and gas by the Alaska Oil & Gas Association (AOGA). The handouts provided on January 23 were referred to during the presentations. Presentations, as well as related questions and answers from members, occurred in the following order: GENE BURDEN, Senior Vice-President of Government Relations, Tesoro Alaska Company (via teleconference), presented Snapshot 7 - Refining in Alaska: Adding Values. JOE HEGNA, Director of Regulatory Affairs, Phillips Alaska, Inc., presented Snapshot 4 - Environmental Practices: Doing It Right. RANDAL BUCKENDORF, Environmental Counsel, Phillips Alaska, Inc., presented Snapshot 5 - Permitting Requirements: Agency and Public Oversight. MARK STANLEY, Coil-Tubing-Drilling Superintendent, BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc., presented Snapshot 6 - Betting on Technology; Advances in Exploration/Production Technology. ANNOUNCEMENTS  Chairman Ogan announced his intention to begin hearing bills that had been referred to this committee on January 30 and February 1. Additional industry presentations would follow, on February 6 and February 8. COMMITTEE ACTION  The committee took no action.
