ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE  HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON OIL AND GAS January 18, 2001 10:03 a.m. COMMITTEE CALENDAR  OVERVIEW: DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, DIVISION OF OIL & GAS TAPES  01-1, SIDES A & B 01-2, SIDE A CALL TO ORDER  REPRESENTATIVE SCOTT OGAN, Chair, called the House Special Committee on Oil and Gas meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. PRESENT  Committee members present were Representatives Ogan, Dyson, Chenault, Fate, Kohring, Guess, and Joule. Also present was Representative Green. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION  MARK MYERS, Director, Division of Oil & Gas, Department of Natural Resources, provided full-color handouts, gave an overview of the division, and answered members' questions. DAN ZOBRIST, Petroleum Economist, Division of Oil and Gas, Department of Natural Resources, answered members' questions via teleconference. WILLIAM NEBESKY, Petroleum Economist, Division of Oil and Gas, Department of Natural Resources, answered members' questions via teleconference. ANNOUNCEMENTS  CHAIR OGAN encouraged members to look at the division's home page on the Internet at www.dog.dnr.state.ak.us/oil/welcome.htm. He also asked members to familiarize themselves with the relevant statutes in Titles 38 and 41 as well as the administrative code in 11 AAC. COMMITTEE ACTION  REPRESENTATIVE DYSON nominated Representative Fate to be vice chair of the House Special Committee on Oil and Gas; there being no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIR OGAN appointed a subcommittee consisting of Representative Fate, chair; Representative Joule; and Representative Dyson. He charged the subcommittee with looking at the feasibility of delivering natural gas to villages along the Yukon River, assuming that an LNG [liquefied natural gas] line is built.
