HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON FISHERIES February 2, 1998 5:04 p.m. COMMITTEE CALENDAR UPDATE ON PACIFIC SALMON TREATY NEGOTIATIONS TAPE(S) 98-3, SIDE(S) A & B CALL TO ORDER Representative Austerman, Chairman, convened the House Special Committee on Fisheries meeting at 5:04 p.m. PRESENT Committee members present at the call to order were Representative Austerman, Ivan, Hodgins and Ogan. Other legislators present were Representatives Dyson and Williams and Senator Leman. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION CHAIRMAN AUSTERMAN announced the committee would hear an update on the Pacific Salmon Treaty negotiations. JEV SHELTON, Alternate Commissioner, Pacific Salmon Commission, introduced himself and the other testifiers. He presented an overview and update on the Pacific Salmon Treaty negotiations using an overhead projector. He answered the committee's questions. KEVIN DUFFY, Northern Panel Chair, Pacific Salmon Commission, provided historical information regarding the Pacific Salmon Treaty to the committee using an overhead projector. JEFF KOENIGS, Co-chair, Chinook Technical Committee, Pacific Salmon Commission, presented specifics on the Southeast Chinook fishery and the Noyes Island fishery using an overhead projector. He answered the committee's questions. JIM BACON, Chair, Northern Stakeholders, Pacific Salmon Commission, testified in support of the stakeholder process in treaty negotiations.
