Present at the call to order from the House Health, Education and Social Services Standing Committee were Representatives Wilson, Gatto, Heinze, Seaton, Cissna, and Kapsner. Other legislators present were Representatives Dahlstrom, McGuire, and Stevens, and Senator Davis. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION  KENNETH J. MEYER, Special Assistant, Intergovernmental Affairs, United States Department of Education, Washington, D.C., gave a 25-minute PowerPoint presentation on the new federal education legislation, the "No Child Left Behind" (NCLB) Act. Following the PowerPoint presentation, Mr. Meyer answered legislators' specific questions concerning the NCLB program and its possible effect on Alaska's schools. ANNOUNCEMENTS  There were no announcements. COMMITTEE ACTION  The committee took no action.
