ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE  HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION February 21, 2001 8:12 a.m. COMMITTEE CALENDAR  Presentation by Galena School District High School Competency Test TAPES  01-8, SIDES A & B 01-9, SIDE A CALL TO ORDER  REPRESENTATIVE CON BUNDE, Chair, convened the House Special Committee on Education at 8:12 a.m. PRESENT  Committee members present were Representatives Bunde, Green, Wilson, Stevens, and Guess. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION  JIM FOSTER, Assistant Superintendent, Galena School District, presented information on how his district prepared and continues to prepare students and teachers for the High School Competency Test. His presentation included a brief history on education, information on curriculum, training teachers, exam comparisons, Galena On Line Delivery (GOLD), and recommendations for the committee. He also responded to questions asked by the committee. ANNOUNCEMENTS  The next meeting will be on February 28, at 8am. The committee will be hearing Representative McGuire's bill HB 99, as well as hear from the Assistant Attorney General, Phillip Reeves, and the Disability Law Center in regards to HB 94. COMMITTEE ACTION  The committee took no action.
