CHAIRMAN LEMAN brings up SB 242 (HOURS FOR STATE OFFICES) as the next order of business before the State Affairs Committee. Number 100 SENATOR TAYLOR asks Mr. McMullen of the Department of Administration to make a statement. Number 106 MIKE MCMULLEN, Division of Personnel, Department of Administration (DOA), states the department supports SB 242, but would prefer to see the provisions in SB 242 implemented by regulation, not by law. DOA is concerned there would be expectations from the public that there would be increased services provided by the state, under SB 242. Number 130 SENATOR TAYLOR states he is in complete agreement with DOA, and so he recommends the bill be advanced to the Rules Committee and be held there. Number 137 CHAIRMAN LEMAN asks if there is anyone else who wishes to testify on SB 242. Hearing none, he asks what the pleasure of the committee is. Number 140 SENATOR TAYLOR makes a motion to release SB 242 from the State Affairs Committee with individual recommendations. Number 143 SENATOR LEMAN, hearing no objection, orders SB 242 be released from committee with individual recommendations.
