SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent SCR 19 - PROTOTYPE SCHOOL DESIGN be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. He then objected for the purpose of commenting on the resolution. SENATOR LEMAN commented that he applauds the sponsors of the resolution to get at the issue of coming up with some type of standardized design for schools in Alaska. He said the Department of Education can and should be a repository for good designs done by other schools districts, but he does not believe the development of prototypical designs by the department is the right approach, and it will just end up costing money for designs that will just sit on the shelf. SENATOR LEMAN then removed his objection, and there being no further objection, the Chairman stated the calendaring motion carried.
