CHAIRMAN HALFORD brought SB 195 (PHYSICAL/OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY BOARDS EXT.) before the committee as the next order of business. SENATOR RIEGER moved that CSSB 195(RLS) be adopted. He then explained that the HES version passed out earlier allowed the Board of Occupational Licensing to incorporate alternative methods of certifying a physical therapist (courses of instruction which were completed to the satisfaction of the board). The Rules CS will reduce to only allowing the Board to amend their existing regulations to allow assistant physical therapists to be licensed with a resident course of study and professional instruction, which is equivalent to that which was otherwise provided in statute. This will allow more flexibility for people to become licensed as assistant physical therapists. CHAIRMAN HALFORD asked if there were any objections to the adoption of CSSB 195(RLS). Hearing no objection, the motion. SENATOR RIEGER moved that CSSB 195(RLS) be passed out of committee with individual recommendations. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that SB 195 be approved for calendaring at the Chair's discretion. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
