SENATOR JACKO opened the public hearing on HB 283 (BOARD OF ARCH/ENGINEERS/SURVEYORS EXT.) SENATOR LOREN LEMAN explained the legislation is the House companion to a Senate bill he introduced on the same topic, and it will extend the board for the normal four-year period. He said audit reports confirm that the board is functioning as intended, and he sees no reason for not extending it. SENATOR HALFORD asked if there were any recommendations in the audit report for action in the statute. SENATOR LEMAN answered that he didn't know, but he is aware that the board is studying the possibility for forming a semi-autonomous board. Number 067 SENATOR RIEGER moved that HB 283 be passed out of committee with individual recommendations. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that HB 283 (BOARD OF ARCH/ENGINEERS/SURVEYORS EXT.) be approved for calendaring at the Chair's discretion. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
