HB 64-FISHERY DEVELOPMENT ASSOC.; ASSESSMENTS  4:15:05 PM CHAIR REVAK announced the consideration of CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 64(FSH) "An Act relating to regional fishery development associations; and relating to developing fishery management assessments." 4:15:35 PM FATE PUTMAN, Staff, Representative Louise Stutes, Alaska State Legislature, Juneau, Alaska, stated that HB 64 would create regional fishery development associations. It would allow for fisheries management implementation and assessment of fees against those fisheries so the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) can perform assessments of the fisheries to determine whether there is sufficient stock to allow for a fishery. The association members will determine the amount of tax to apply to their association. He stated that the Department of Revenue (DOR) would collect the tax the Fishery development association set. At the direction of the legislature, DOR would shift the funding to ADF&G, allowing the division to conduct an assessment of the fishery and open the fishery for development. 4:16:28 PM SENATOR STEVENS joined the meeting. 4:16:40 PM CHAIR REVAK opened public testimony on HB 64; he found none and closed public testimony. 4:17:26 PM SENATOR MICCICHE moved to report CSHB 64(FSH), work order 32- LS0293\I, from committee with individual recommendations and attached fiscal note(s). 4:17:39 PM CHAIR REVAK found no objection, and CSHB 64(FSH) was reported from the Senate Resources Standing Committee.
