Number 1419 SB 166-APPOINTMENT OF US SENATORS SENATOR DONLEY said SB 166 was an eleven word change to existing statute, which provides a five day waiting period in which a governor would be able to fill a vacancy for the United States Senate. SB 166 would allow the Alaska public to comment on who might be best suited to represent them in the United States Senate in the unlikely event of a vacancy occurring. As the statute currently stands, there is no provision for public comment. SENATOR DONLEY moved SB 166 from committee with individual recommendations. There being no objection, SB 166 moved from committee.
