SJR 29 - CONST AM: SUPERMAJORITY FOR TAX LEVIES MR. RALPH BENNETT, staff to SENATOR TAYLOR, came forward to present SJR 29. He explained SJR 29 as a constitutional amendment requiring a two-thirds vote of the legislature before any new tax could be imposed. Judging from the number of tax proposals presented to the Twentieth Alaska Legislature, he stated the day is approaching when new taxes will be given serious consideration. This amendment, if adopted by the voters, would assure wide support for any new state tax. SENATOR MILLER moved SJR 29 from committee with individual recommendations. Without objection, it was so ordered.
