SENATOR TAYLOR returned SB 161 INTEREST RATES: (JUDGMENTS-TAXES- ROYALTIES) by Request of the Governor to committee, and he reviewed the testimony from the State for a rate. He had requested his aide, KEVIN SULLIVAN, to prepare a committee substitute for a flat rate that is adjusted annually from a formula set so everyone each year knows what the interest will be, and not be facing 10.5% as is today on judgements. He asked for the current interest rate, and MR. SULLIVAN explained the formula he used amounts to 8% today. SENATOR JACKO moved to pass CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 161(JUD) (INTEREST RATES: JUDGMENTS/TAXES/ROYALTIES) from committee with individual recommendations. Without objections, so ordered.
