SENATE CS FOR CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 75(RES) "An Act relating to the powers and duties of the commissioner of fish and game, Board of Fisheries, and Board of Game in promoting and preserving fishing, hunting, and trapping in the state; and repealing the power and duty of the commissioner of fish and game to assist the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in the enforcement of federal laws regarding fish and game." This was the first hearing for this bill in the Senate Finance Committee. KEATH HILLIARD, Staff to Representative Mike Kelly, the bill's sponsor, stated that SCS CS HB 75(RES) was an improved version of the original bill. The bill was introduced to preserve and promote "the cultural heritage of hunting, fishing, and trapping" in the State. Such a bill would be consistent with the State's Constitution dealing with "the common use and sustained yield elements in regards to our natural resources". The major change that occurred in the Senate Resources committee substitute, Version 24-LS0359\L was the removal of "the current Statutory obligation that the commissioner of Fish and Game work with the federal Fish and Wildlife Department to enforce all federal regulations". Co-Chair Green understood that Version "L" included a title change. M. Hilliard affirmed and noted that the title change resolution has not yet been developed. Co-Chair Green ordered the bill HELD in order to allow the Senate Concurrent Resolution for the title change to be developed. 3:35:14 PM
