[CSSB 125, version 30-LS1004\A, was before the committee.] SENATOR STEDMAN moved to adopt CSSB 125(CRA), version 30- LS1004\O, for discussion purposes. There were no objections and it was so ordered. CHAIR BISHOP, finding no discussion from committee members, opened public testimony. 3:31:07 PM BRYCE WARD, Mayor, City of North Pole, Alaska, supported SB 125 saying this project will provide better air quality and a stable energy supply for the Interior. 3:32:11 PM JIM MATHERLY, Mayor, City of Fairbanks, Alaska, supported Mayor Ward's comments in support of SB 125. Last night, he said Resolution 4823 supporting the bonding extension was passed unanimously by the City Council. This project is better for the long term goals for affordable energy for the Interior and air quality. 3:33:14 PM JON COOK, CFO, Airport Equipment Rentals, Inc, Fairbanks, Alaska, supported SB 125. In addition to the benefits it will provide to their operations business of equipment rentals, they are one of the larger real estate development companies in Fairbanks, and a reliable supply of natural gas would make it possible for Fairbanks to have more big box retail stores. These box stores would provide affordable goods and jobs for people in Fairbanks. 3:35:29 PM KARL KASSEL, Mayor, Fairbanks North Star Borough, Fairbanks, Alaska, supported SB 125. He echoed previous comments and said this is very important for their community. CHAIR BISHOP, finding no further comments, closed public testimony. He reported that this past weekend he was in Fairbanks and went by the south Fairbanks storage facility and was happy to report that the project looks to be progressing well. SENATOR STEDMAN moved to report CSSB 125(CRA) from committee with individual recommendations and attached zero fiscal note. There were no objections and it was so ordered.
