The Senate Community & Regional Affairs Committee was called to order by Chairman Randy Phillips at 10:00 a.m. He brought HB 180 am (AHFC HOUSING INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS) before the committee as the first order of business. SENATOR ADAMS moved that HB 180 am be passed out of committee with individual recommendations. SENATOR LEMAN objected for the purpose of considering a proposed amendment requested by the Kenai Builders' Association. SENATOR ADAMS withdrew his motion. DAVID HARDING, staff to Representative Eileen MacLean, related that the Alaska State Homebuilders, the Anchorage Home Builders, and several rural homebuilders are in support of the legislation without the amendment. Number 110 SENATOR RANDY PHILLIPS called for a hand vote on the adoption of Amendment No. 1. Senator Phillips voted for the amendment and Senators Zharoff, Leman and Adams voted against the amendment. Amendment No. 1 failed to be adopted. Number 122 SENATOR ADAMS moved that HB 180 am be moved out of committee with individual recommendations. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
