SB 207-MEDICAL SUPPORT ORDERS FOR CHILDREN CHAIRMAN COWDERY announced that the only order of business before the committee is SENATE BILL NO. 207, "An Act relating to the establishment and enforcement of medical support orders for children; and providing for an effective date." REPRESENTATIVE PORTER moved that the committee adopt HCS SB 207, version GS2061\D, as the working document. There being no objection, it was so ordered and version D was before the committee. Number 0076 REPRESENTATIVE DYSON, Alaska State Legislature, commented that the latest version of SB 207 has taken the modifications done in the companion bill, HB 300, and included those in the Senate version. Therefore, version D incorporates the modifications done to HB 300, with which the Department of Revenue has no problem. He noted that the department, represented by Shirley Dean today, has indicated to him that SB 207 has improved due to the work performed on the House side. CHAIRMAN COWDERY noted that the departmental representative, Ms. Dean, has indicated agreement that there is no problem with this. Number 0164 REPRESENTATIVE BERKOWITZ asked if SB 207 has been through House committees. REPRESENTATIVE KOTT pointed out that HB 300, the companion to SB 207, was heard in the [House Health, Education and Social Services Committee], the House Judiciary Committee and the House Finance Committee. REPRESENTATIVE DYSON commented, "In essence, we [the House Health, Education and Social Services Committee] heard both." Number 0242 REPRESENTATIVE PORTER moved that the committee report HCS SB 207, version GS2061\D, out of committee with individual recommendations and accompanying fiscal notes. REPRESENTATIVE BERKOWITZ pointed out that there is additional language in the title of version D. [The title in version D includes the following language: "amending Rule 90.3". That language is not included in the title of SB 207.] He asked if it is a technical title change or would it require a concurrent resolution. SHIRLEY DEAN, Child Support Enforcement Division (CSED), Department of Revenue, remarked that she believes the title change is a technical change. CHAIRMAN COWDERY asked if there was objection to reporting version D from committee. There being no objection, HCS SB 207(RLS) was reported from the House Rules Standing Committee.
