SENATE BILL NO. 125 "An Act relating to subsidiary corporations of the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation; and establishing the Alaska energy independence fund." 9:09:38 AM Co-Chair Stedman relayed that the committee had heard the bill on May 5, 2024 at which time public testimony had been taken. Senator Wilson MOVED to ADOPT proposed committee substitute for SB 125, Work Draft 33-GS1074\U (Walsh, 4/9/24). Co-Chair Stedman OBJECTED for discussion. Mr. Alper shared the bills history. He noted that the current CS made several small changes. The word "affordable" had been removed to indicate that housing of all types would be worked on with the understanding that there was a need for a variety of housing options. He said that language in the New Fund section of Section 3 of the bill had been added that said that subsidiary corporations should prioritize residential and commercial buildings. Co-Chair Stedman WITHDREW his objection. There being NO OBJECTION, it was so ordered. SB 125 was heard and HELD in Committee for further consideration. Co-Chair Stedman discussed housekeeping.
