HB 469 - APPROVE SALE ROYALTY OIL TO MAPCO CHAIRMAN SANDERS announced the only order of business was House Bill No. 469, "An Act approving the sale of Prudhoe Bay Unit royalty oil by the State of Alaska to Mapco Alaska Petroleum, Inc.; and providing for an effective date." Number 0069 REPRESENTATIVE MARK HODGINS made a motion to move HB 469 out of the committee with individual recommendations. Number 0084 CHAIRMAN SANDERS objected. CHAIRMAN SANDERS announced he still believes that MAPCO Alaska Petroleum Incorporated and Tesoro Alaska Petroleum Company are manipulating the Alaskan market for fossil fuel to their advantage and profit, but he doesn't feel that holding the contract would have a positive effect on the situation at this time. Therefore, he is willing to move the bill forward to the next committee of referral. However, he encourages his fellow legislators, the Administration, and most of all the local refineries to work together to ensure that the citizens of Alaska realize both price and supply benefits from the sale and processing of "their" royalty oil. CHAIRMAN SANDERS removed his objection. There being no further objection, HB 469 was so moved from the House Special Committee on Economic Development.
