HB 170-REPORTING VIOLENT CRIMES  3:33:14 PM CHAIR CARRICK announced that the next order of business would be HOUSE BILL NO. 170, "An Act relating to a failure to report a violent crime." 3:33:43 PM REPRESENTATIVE ROBYN NIAYUQ BURKE, Alaska State Legislature, as prime sponsor of HB 170, thanked the committee for hearing the bill. 3:34:10 PM CHAIR CARRICK opened public testimony on HB 170. 3:34:45 PM ANTONIA COMMACK, representing self, testified in support of HB 170. She noted that she had testified last week and was present today to provide additional examples of cases where people were charged when failing to report a crime. She said the proposed legislation would give law enforcement the tools to solve these crimes. She provided examples from charging documents of two cases. 3:39:14 PM CHAIR CARRICK, after ascertaining that no one else wished to testify, closed public testimony on HB 170. CHAIR CARRICK set an amendment deadline for HB 170 and announced that HB 170 was held over.
