CHAIRMAN GENE THERRIAULT called the Senate State Affairs Committee
meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. Present were Senators Davis, Phillips
and Chairman Therriault.
Chairman Therriault said he had a list of names of individuals that
were referred to the committee for review before both bodies gather
in joint session for confirmation. Before the meeting he asked
committee members to contact him if they had any questions after
reading the resumes. If there were questions the individuals would
have been contacted so they could respond in person or via
teleconference. There had been no inquiries but if any arose as he
read the list of individuals, he would set those names aside and
the individuals would appear in person or via teleconference the
following day. He then read the following list and asked for
objections, if any, to be registered as the name was read:
· Former Senator Jim Duncan for Commissioner of the Department
of Administration
· Glenn G. Godfrey for Commissioner of the Department of Public
Safety
· Colonel Craig Noal Christensen for Alaska Army National Guard
Brigadier General
· John Dapcevich as the Alaska Public Offices Commission
appointee from Juneau
· Mark Thurston Handley as an Alaska Public Offices Commission
appointee from Juneau
· Judge Roy Harding Madsen from Kodiak for the State Commission
for Human Rights
· Martha L. Gore from Anchorage for State Commission for Human
Rights
There was no objection to moving all candidates' names forward.
The Chairman presented a letter for members to sign stating they
had reviewed the qualifications and recommended the appointments be
forwarded to both bodies in a joint session for consideration. He
announced that there were no stated objections, but that does not
reflect an intent by any committee members to vote for or against
the appointments during further sessions.
He asked for a motion to forward the names for consideration.
SENATOR PHILLIPS moved the names be forwarded for consideration.
There were no objections.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
