9:11 a.m.

CHAIRMAN LEMAN brings up SB 237 (WEAPONS POSSESSION/SALE BY/TO
MINORS) as the first order of business before the State Affairs
Committee today. The chairman asks if there is anyone who wishes
to testify, or if any committee members have discussion or
amendments they would like to add. Hearing none, the chairman asks
what the pleasure of the committee is.

SENATOR MILLER makes a motion that SB 237 be released from the
State Affairs Committee with individual recommendations.

CHAIRMAN LEMAN, hearing no objections, orders SB 237 be released
from committee with individual recommendations.

CHAIRMAN LEMAN brings up SCR 15 (TWENTY-EIGHTH ANNUAL BOYS' STATE)

describes the purpose of Boys' State and Girls' State for the

MIKE MCMULLEN, Division of Personnel, Department of Administration
(DOA), states the department supports SB 242, but would prefer to
see the provisions in SB 242 implemented by regulation, not by law.
DOA is concerned there would be expectations from the public that
there would be increased services provided by the state, under SB
242.

SENATOR TAYLOR states he is in complete agreement with DOA, and so
he recommends the bill be advanced to the Rules Committee and be
held there.
