ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE SENATE RULES STANDING COMMITTEE January 18, 2017 1:32 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT Senator Kevin Meyer, Chair Senator Pete Kelly Senator Peter Micciche Senator Anna MacKinnon Senator Berta Gardner MEMBERS ABSENT All members present COMMITTEE CALENDAR ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING PREVIOUS COMMITTEE ACTION No previous action to record. WITNESS REGISTER No witnesses ACTION NARRATIVE 1:32:24 PM CHAIR KEVIN MEYER called the Senate Rules Standing Committee meeting to order at 1:32 p.m. Present at the call to order were Senators Kelly, Micciche, MacKinnon, Gardner, and Chair Meyer. ^Organizational Meeting Organizational Meeting 1:33:34 PM CHAIR MEYER introduced the staff that would be assisting the Senate Rules Committee this session. He said the only thing on the agenda is the delegation of calendaring authority that is in Uniform Rule 18. It says this authority rests with the Rules Committee. SENATOR MACKINNON moved and asked unanimous consent to allow the Senate Rules Standing Committee to delegate the rules and responsibilities set out in Uniform Rule 18. This is for the preparation of the daily calendar including the scheduling of bills for the Senate floor to the chair of the Rules Committee for both regular and any and all special sessions of the 30th Alaska State Legislature. CHAIR MEYER objected to say that the committee chair has routinely prepared the calendar since about 2006 and allowing the chair to perform the day-to-day function of putting together the calendar will save a lot of time for everyone. He removed his objection. Finding no further objection or comment, he announced that the motion carried. 1:35:28 PM CHAIR MEYER found no further business to come before the committee and adjourned the Senate Rules Committee meeting at 1:35 p.m.
