ACTION NARRATIVE
11:37:28 AM
CHAIR LESIL MCGUIRE called the Senate Rules Standing Committee
meeting to order at 11:37 a.m. Present at the call to order were
Senators Ellis, Meyer, Huggins, Coghill and Chair McGuire. She
introduced her staff, Brett Huber and Genevieve Wojtusik.
^Organizational Meeting
CHAIR MCGUIRE announced the first order of business was to elect
a vice chairman.
SENATOR HUGGINS moved to make Senator Coghill vice chairman of
the Rules Committee. There were no objections, and it was so
ordered.
SENATOR COGHILL moved and asked unanimous consent that the
Senate Rules Committee delegate the Rules' responsibility set
out in Uniform Rule 18 for the preparation of the daily calendar
including scheduling of bills for the floor through the chair of
the committee for both regular sessions and all special sessions
of the 28th Legislature. There were no objections, and it was so
ordered.
CHAIR MCGUIRE clarified that this delegation of the calendaring
authority does not obviate the requirement to hold a properly
noticed meeting of the committee for any action it may wish to
take up outside of preparation of the calendar and scheduling of
bills on the floor.
11:39:03 AM
CHAIR MCGUIRE announced that concluded the business for today
and adjourned the Senate Rules Committee meeting at 11:39 a.m.
