"An Act amending the Alaska Net Income Tax Act to provide that the
net proceeds of a qualified nonprofit organization's unrelated
business taxable income obtained from permitted gaming activities
are not subject to tax; and providing for an effective date."

CHAIRMAN LEMAN called the Senate Labor and Commerce Committee
meeting to order at 2:42 p.m. and noted the presence of Senators
Kelly, Mackie and Leman. He stated the only order of business
would be confirmation hearings on governor appointees.
The first item on the agenda was the confirmation hearing on the
appointees to the State Board of Registration for Architects,
Engineers, and Land Surveyors. There being no comments or
testimony, CHAIRMAN LEMAN requested a motion.
SENATOR MACKIE moved that the names of Don Iverson, Scott McLane,
Kathy Gardner, and Patrick Kalen be forwarded, for consideration,
to a joint session on confirmations, and that this was not an
indication of how members would vote in that joint session.
Hearing no objection, CHAIRMAN LEMAN stated the motion carried.
The next item on the agenda was the appointment of Inge Bolivar to
the State Board of Barbers and Hairdressers. There being no
comments or testimony, CHAIRMAN LEMAN requested a motion.
SENATOR MACKIE moved that the name of Inge Bolivar be forwarded,
for consideration, to a joint session on confirmations, and that
this was not an indication of how members would vote in that joint
session. Hearing no objection, CHAIRMAN LEMAN stated the motion
carried.
SENATOR KELLY requested that the names of appointees to the Alaska
Workers' Compensation Board be held over. CHAIRMAN LEMAN stated
the names of those appointees would be held over until the
following Tuesday.
The committee then took up the appointment of Audrey Foldoe to the
Real Estate Commission. There being no comments or testimony,
CHAIRMAN LEMAN requested a motion.
SENATOR MACKIE moved that the name of Audrey Foldoe be forwarded,
for consideration, to a joint session on confirmations, and that
this was not an indication of how members would vote in that joint
session.
The final item on the agenda was the appointment of Alfred L.
Tamagni, Sr. to the Alaska Labor Relations Agency. There being no
comments or testimony, CHAIRMAN LEMAN requested a motion.
SENATOR MACKIE moved that the name of Alfred L. Tamagni, Sr. be
forwarded, for consideration, to a joint session on confirmations,
and that this was not an indication of how members would vote in
that joint session.
There being no further business to come before the committee, the
meeting adjourned at 2:52 p.m.
