^CONFIRMATION HEARING: UA BOARD OF REGENTS
CHAIR DAVIS announced the only business before the committee is
a conformation hearing of William Andrews to the UA Board of
Regents.
5:03:53 PM
WILLIAM ANDREWS, nominee for the University of Alaska (UA) Board
of Regents, said that he applied for the position because he
feels it's a good opportunity to develop the skills needed for a
professional career, and he'll bring a good background to the
position. He's pursuing a career in education and the position
will enhance his experience. He added that the governor asked
him to serve in the position.
SENATOR ELTON said that Juneau is a small town but its
university is fast-growing, and Mr. Andrews has nothing bad to
be said about him which is remarkable for a small town; he
supports the nomination.

SENATOR THOMAS said that he has always appreciated the student
regents on the UA board, and the ideas from students come from a
different viewpoint; he's sure Mr. Andrews will live up to the
tradition.
CHAIR DAVIS said that she agrees with the remarks made and she's
sure Mr. Andrews be a fine representative on the board. She
announced that Senator Dyson had arrived, and said that the
