SB 36 PUBLIC SCHOOL FUNDING
Number 001
CHAIRMAN WILKEN called the Senate Health, Education & Social
Services Committee (HES) to order at 3:05 p.m. and introduced
SB 36 as the only order of business before the committee. SB 142,
SB 193, and SB 182 will be held to Wednesday's meeting. Chairman
Wilken noted that SB 36 had received three and a half days of
testimony. Chairman Wilken said that he would entertain a motion.
SENATOR LEMAN moved to report SB 36 out of committee with
individual recommendations and accompanying fiscal notes.
SENATOR ELLIS objected. Senator Ellis moved to amend the motion by
replacing SB 36 with SB 146. SB 146 has received the most work and
is more acceptable than SB 36.
SENATOR GREEN objected to Senator Ellis' motion.
Upon a roll call vote, Senators Wilken, Leman, and Green voted
"Nay" and Senator Ellis voted "Yea". Therefore, the amended motion
failed.
CHAIRMAN WILKEN stated that the question now before the committee
was whether to report SB 36 out of committee.
SENATOR ELLIS maintained his objection.
Upon a roll call vote, Senators Wilken, Leman, and Green voted
"Yea" and Senator Ellis voted "Nay". Therefore, SB 36 was reported
out of committee.
There being no further business before the committee, the meeting
was adjourned at 3:06 p.m.
