CALL TO ORDER
Representative Scott Ogan, Co-Chairman, convened the House
Resources Standing Committee meeting at 1:00 p.m.
PRESENT
Committee members present at the call to order were Representatives
Ogan and Dyson. Representative(s) Green and Barnes arrived as the
meeting was in progress. Other legislators present were
Representatives Vezey, Davis, Phillips and Hodgins.
ALSO ATTENDING
David Rogers; Rodger Painter, Alaskan Shellfish Growers
Association; Robert Hartley, Alaska shellfish grower; Don Fell,
Kach Shellfish Growers; Gary Seims, Kach Shellfish Growers;
SUMMARY OF INFORMATION
DAVID ROGERS introduced himself and the other members of the group
including his wife, former Representative Caren Robinson, and then
let the growers speak.
RODGER PAINTER, Alaskan Shellfish Growers Association, presented a
brief history of the aquaculture industry and showed slides to the
committee members. He also pointed out to the committee members
what works and what does not work for shellfish growers.
ROBERT HARTLEY, Alaska Shellfish Growers, spoke to the committee
members as a shellfish farmer and provided technical information.
DON FELL, Kach Shellfish Growers, informed the committee members
about international shellfish farms.
GARY SEIMS, Kach Shellfish Growers, informed the committee members
about additional shellfish issues.
COMMITTEE ACTION
The committee took no action.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 3:10 p.m.
