CALL TO ORDER
REPRESENTATIVE MIKE CHENAULT, Chair, called the House Special
Committee on Military and Veterans' Affairs meeting to order at
5:10 p.m. [For the minutes on HJR 27, see the 5:41 p.m. minutes
for this date.]
PRESENT
Committee members present were Representatives Chenault, Green,
Kott, Hayes, and Cissna. Also present were Representatives
Foster and Coghill.
SUMMARY OF INFORMATION
ROBERT K. UHRICH, Director, Land Management, Engineering Field
Activity, Northwest Naval Facilities Engineering Command,
provided a handout of his testimony and discussed historical
aspects as well as the current status of the Adak base closure
activities. He answered questions on related topics, including
but not limited to underground storage tanks; the number of
people at Adak; the status of power plants, facilities, housing,
and landfills; asbestos removal; and the availability of
emergency landing services.
