CALL TO ORDER
CO-CHAIRMAN COGHILL called the House Health, Education and Social
Services Standing Committee meeting to order at 3:15 p.m.
PRESENT
Members present for the report were Representative Dyson, Coghill,
Whitaker, Green, Morgan, and Kemplen. Representative Brice arrived
at 3:40.
SUMMARY OF INFORMATION
LINCOLN BEAN, Chairman, Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium
Board, At-Large Member, Alaska Native Health Board, introduced
himself with his Tlingit name, Lone Crying Wolf. He spoke in favor
of the Alaska Native Health Board Legislative Priority of creating
an Inhalant Abuse Treatment and Prevention Program. He also
introduced Robert Singyke, Sherrel Calhoon, Leo Morgan, and Cynthia
Navarrette.
ROBERT SINGYKE, Vice Chair, Southcentral Foundation Board, Member,
Joint Operating Board Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, and
Member, Alaska Native Health Board, spoke in support of the "Rural
Sanitation 2005 Action Plan," which is an Alaska Native Health
Board Legislative Priority.
SHERREL CALHOON, Alternate, Alaska Native Health Board for
Chugachmiut, spoke in support of legislation Improving the Well-
Being of Children and Families.
LEO MORGAN, President/CEO, Alaska Native Health Board, testified.
CYNTHIA NAVARRETTE, Deputy Director, Alaska Native Health Board,
testified.
MYRA MUNSON, Attorney, Sonosky, Chambers, Sachse, Miller, & Munson
representing the Alaska Native Health Board, answered questions
regarding funding and involvement in foster care recruitment.
DAN EASTON, Director, Division of Facility Construction &
Operation, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, was
present but did not testify.
COMMITTEE ACTION
The committee took no action.
ADJOURNMENT
CO-CHAIRMAN COGHILL adjourned the meeting at 4:35 p.m.
