REPRESENTATIVE  DREW  SCALZI,  Co-Chair  of  the  House  Resources                                                              
Standing  Committee,  called  the   joint  meeting  of  the  House                                                              
Resources Standing  Committee and  the House Special  Committee on                                                              
Fisheries to order at 1:02 p.m.                                                                                                 
                                                                                                                                
PRESENT                                                                                                                       
                                                                                                                              
Committee  members  present were  Representatives  Scalzi,  Green,                                                              
Chenault, Stevens, Kapsner, Kerttula, Wilson, and Dyson.                                                                        
                                                                                                                                
SUMMARY OF INFORMATION                                                                                                        
                                                                                                                              
FRANK  RUE, Commissioner  of  the Alaska  Department  of Fish  and                                                              
Game (ADF&G),  presented  the department  overview and handed  out                                                              
written copies  of the Alaska Department  of Fish and  Game FY2002                                                              
Budget  and  Program  Overview   dated  January  2001.    He  also                                                              
responded to questions asked by committee members.                                                                              
                                                                                                                                
MARY PETE, Director,  Division of Subsistence, ADF&G,  was patched                                                              
into  the meeting  via  teleconference  as  she was  in  Anchorage                                                              
attending the Board  of Fisheries meetings.  She  gave an overview                                                              
of the  Division of  Subsistence and  responded to questions  from                                                              
committee members.                                                                                                              
                                                                                                                                
KELLY  HEPLER,  Director,  Division  of  Sport  Fish,  ADF&G,  was                                                              
patched  into  the  meeting  via   teleconference  as  he  was  in                                                              
Anchorage attending  the Board of Fisheries meetings.   He gave an                                                              
overview  of  the   Division  of  Sport  Fish   and  responded  to                                                              
questions from committee members.                                                                                               
                                                                                                                                
DOUG  MECUM, Director,  Division of  Commercial Fisheries,  ADF&G,                                                              
was  patched into  the meeting  via  teleconference as  he was  in                                                              
Anchorage attending  the Board of Fisheries meetings.   He gave an                                                              
overview  of the Division  of Commercial  Fisheries and  responded                                                              
to questions from committee members.                                                                                            
                                                                                                                                
KEVIN  DUFFY, Deputy  Commissioner, ADF&G,  presented an  overview                                                              
of  specific  issues  before  the   department  and  responded  to                                                              
questions from committee members.                                                                                               
                                                                                                                                
COMMISIONER RUE AND  MR. DUFFY continued to answer  questions from                                                              
committee members.                                                                                                              
                                                                                                                                
WAYNE  REGLELIN,  Director,  Division  of  Wildlife  Conservation,                                                              
ADF&G,  presented   an  overview  of  the  Division   of  Wildlife                                                              
Conservation and responded to questions from committee members.                                                                 
                                                                                                                                
KEN  TAYLOR,  Director,  Division  of  Habitat,  and  Restoration,                                                              
ADF&G,  presented  an overview  of  the  Division of  Habitat  and                                                              
Restoration and responded to questions from committee members.

Resources Standing  Committee and  the House Special  Committee on
