CALL TO ORDER
Representative Austerman, Chairman, convened the House Special
Committee meeting at 5:07 p.m.
PRESENT
Committee members present at the call to order were Representatives
Austerman, Ivan, Ogan and Hodgins. Other legislators present were
Representative Dyson and Senator Leman.
SUMMARY OF INFORMATION
FRANK RUE, Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner, Department of
Fish and Game, introduced the people giving the presentation and
answered questions.
DOUG McBRIDE, Southeast Regional Supervisor, Division of Sport
Fish, Department of Fish and Game, presented a lay out of the
overview of Upper Cook Inlet Salmon Management and discussed the
Department of Fish and Game's implementation policy and allocative
directives through their fishery management plans.
GARY LIEPITZ, Habitat Biologist, Division of Habitat and
Restoration, Department of Fish and Game, discussed the habitat
issues of the Upper Cook Inlet fisheries and answered questions on
his testimony.
LINDA BRANNIAN, Management Supervisor, Division of Commercial
Fisheries, Management and Development, Department of Fish and Game,
presented an overview of the salmon fisheries in Cook Inlet and
answered questions on her testimony.
BOB CLASBY, Director, Division of Commericial Fisheries Management
and Development, Department of Fish and Game, commented on the
strengths of pink salmon on odd and even years.
COMMITTEE ACTION
The committee took no action.
