CALL TO ORDER
Representative Austerman, Chairman, convened the House Special
Committee on Fisheries meeting at 5:05 p.m.
PRESENT
Committee members present at the call to order were Representatives
Austerman and Ivan. Representative(s) Ogan and Hodgins arrived as
the meeting was in progress. Other legislators present were
Representative Green.
SUMMARY OF INFORMATION
DAVE BENTON, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner,
Department of Fish and Game; Chairman, Pacific Salmon Commission;
and Representative, North Pacific Fishery Management Council,
discussed Alaska's agreement with the Southern U.S. on Chinook, the
bilateral negotiations with Alaska and Canada and the Russian
Maritime Boundary. He answered questions regarding his testimony.
JEFF KOENINGS, Special Assistant, Office of the Commissioner,
Department of Fish and Game; and Chairman, Chinook Technical
Committee, Pacific Salmon Commission, discussed the background of
the Pacific Salmon Treaty and referred to graphs on Chinook stock
groupings. He answered questions regarding his testimony.
KEVIN DUFFY, Planning and Development Program Manager, Division
Commercial Fisheries Management and Development, Department of Fish
and Game; and Chairman, Northern Panel Pacific Salmon Commission,
discussed the negotiations between the Northern and Southern
stakeholders.
MARY PETE, Director, Division of Subsistence, Department of Fish
and Game; Chair, Yukon River Panel; and Co-chair, Joint U.S.-Canada
Yukon River Panel, discussed history, make-up and work of the Yukon
River Panel. She answered questions regarding her testimony.

The committee took no action.
