CHAIR CON BUNDE reconvened the House Special Committee on
Education meeting at 9:02 a.m. [This is the continuation of the
April 20, 2001, meeting.] Members present at the call to order
were Representatives Bunde, Porter, Wilson, Stevens, Joule, and
Guess.
HB 105-FOUNDATION FORMULA INCREASE
CHAIR BUNDE announced that the committee would address HOUSE
BILL NO. 105, "An Act relating to the base student allocation
used in the formula for state funding of public education; and
providing for an effective date."

REPRESENTATIVE GUESS made a motion to move the CS for HB 105
[version 22-LS0506\C, Ford, 4/20/01] from committee with
individual recommendations and attached fiscal note(s). There
being no objection, CSHB 105(EDU) was moved from the House
Special Committee on Education.
CHAIR BUNDE remarked that he had received a letter from a high
school student who said, in reference to the high school
competency exam, "You dumped it on us." He stated that, in
response, he had shared with her that [the legislature] has also
"dumped," since the competency test began, well over $2 billion
into education.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the committee, the House
Special Committee on Education meeting was adjourned at 9:04
a.m.
