ACTION NARRATIVE

CHAIR BERT STEDMAN called the Senate Transportation Standing
Committee meeting to order at 1:29 p.m. Present at the call to
order were Senators Egan, MacKinnon, Wilson, and Chair Stedman.
SB 25-MOTOR FUEL TAX; TRANSPORTATION MAINT. FUND
1:29:41 PM
CHAIR STEDMAN announced the consideration of SB 25. It was
previously heard on February 2, 2017 and representatives from
the Departments of Revenue and Transportation presented the
bill.
1:30:20 PM
SENATOR MACKINNON noted Deputy Commissioner Burnett from the
Department of Revenue mentioned an even fund swap of $69.3
million from UGF to DGF. She wondered how that could be an even
swap considering this is a new tax. She added that DOT mentioned
there would be no increase in services, yet they are collecting
a tax. She requested clarification on both issues.
1:31:07 PM
CHAIR STEDMAN suggested that the Senate Finance Committee could
address those concerns.
SENATOR MACKINNON replied that she would be happy to have them
answered there.
1:31:30 PM
CHAIR STEDMAN noted he had similar concerns.
1:31:33 PM
SENATOR MACKINNON moved to report SB 25, version 30-GS1794\A,
from committee with individual recommendations and attached
fiscal notes.
1:31:44 PM
CHAIR STEDMAN announced without objection, SB 25 moved from the
Senate Transportation Standing Committee.
1:32:18 PM
There being no further business to come before the committee,
Chair Stedman adjourned the Senate Transportation Standing
Committee at 1:32 p.m.
