             SJR 42 CONSTRUCTION OF ALASKA HIGHWAY                            
                                                                              
                                                                               
 CHAIRMAN RIEGER called the Senate Transportation meeting to order             
 at 6:10 p.m. and introduced  SJR 42  as the only order of business            
 before the committee.  He noted that the resolution was introduced            
 primarily at the request of Senator Phillips.  The Department of              
 Transporration does not have a problem with this resolution.                  
 Chairman Rieger informed the committee that there was a suggested             
 amendment to change "is" to "was" on page 1, line 16.                         
                                                                               
 SENATOR TAYLOR moved that the amendment be adopted.  Hearing no               
 objection, the amendment was adopted.

 SENATOR TAYLOR moved that SJR 42 as amended be moved out of                   
 committee with individual recommendations.  Hearing no objection,             
 it was so ordered.                                                            
                                                                               
 CHAIRMAN RIEGER announced that HB 526 would be heard tomorrow.                
 There being no further business before the committee, the meeting             
 was adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
