 CO-CHAIR BUNDE noted that CSSB 244(FIN) am had been tabled at the             
 last meeting.                                                                 
                                                                               
 CO-CHAIR CYNTHIA TOOHEY made a motion to untable CSSB 244(FIN) am.            
 Hearing no objection, CSSB 244 (FIN) am was brought before the                
 committee.

 CO-CHAIR TOOHEY made a motion to remove Section 1.                            
                                                                               
 REPRESENTATIVE GARY DAVIS objected for further consideration.  He             
 asked if the Department of Education could explain the                        
 ramifications of removing Section 1.                                          
                                                                               
 CO-CHAIR BUNDE explained that removing Section 1 places it back to            
 status quo in that Section 1 reimbursed the Anchorage School                  
 District 100 percent which would take money away from Kenai,                  
 Fairbanks and Juneau.  He asked Representative Davis if he                    
 maintained his objection.                                                     
                                                                               
 REPRESENTATIVE DAVIS withdrew his objection.                                  
                                                                               
 CO-CHAIR BUNDE announced that Section 1 had been removed.  He noted           
 the committee had previously changed the effective date.

 CO-CHAIR TOOHEY made a motion to move the effective date back to              
 the original effective date.                                                  
                                                                               
 CO-CHAIR BUNDE explained that would be an immediate effective date.           
 He asked if there were any objections.  Hearing none, it was so               
 ordered.  He noted a resolution was needed for the title change.

 CO-CHAIR BUNDE asked if there was further questions.  Hearing none,           
 he inquired as to the wish of the committee.

 REPRESENTATIVE TOM BRICE made a motion to pass CSSB 244 as amended            
 from committee with individual recommendations and attached fiscal            
 notes.  Hearing no objection, HCS CSSB 244(HES) moved from                    
 committee.                                                                    
                                                                               
 REPRESENTATIVE CAREN ROBINSON arrived.

 CO-CHAIR BUNDE thanked committee members for their participation on           
 the House Health, Education and Social Services Committee.  There             
 being no further business to come before the committee, Co-Chair              
 Bunde adjourned the meeting at 3:10 p.m.
