CHAIR CLAMAN announced the consideration of SENATE BILL NO. 134
"An Act relating to insurance data security; amending Rule 26,
Alaska Rules of Civil Procedure, and Rules 402 and 501, Alaska
Rules of Evidence; and providing for an effective date."
This is the fourth hearing of SB 134 in the Senate Judiciary
Committee. The committee adopted committee substitute (CS)
version D in the previous hearing on April 17, 2024. The
intention is to consider a new committee substitute, version H.

Summary of Changes
Senate Judiciary Committee: Version D to Version H
• Page 16, line 19
• Adding new Section 2 that amends AS 21.42.375(e)
to define diagnostic breast examination" and
"supplemental breast examination" and offers
guidelines for the basis of additional testing.
• Page 17, line 10
• Adding new Section 3 that amends AS 21.42.375 by
adding new (f) that guarantees that mammography
screening, diagnostic breast examinations, and
supplemental breast examinations are covered by
applicable insurance plans, with the exception of
high deductible health plans that are eligible
for health savings account tax deduction.
• Page 18, line 8
• Adding new Section 5 that amends the uncodified
law of the State of Alaska by applying sec. 2 and
sec. 3 to an insurance policy or contract on or
after the effective date of the law.
• Conforming changes:
• A title change to include mammograms
• Renumbering
