SB 76 - STATE LONG-TERM PLANNING
CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 76 before the committee as the final
order of business. There was a proposed amendment to the bill for
the committee's consideration.
SENATOR SEAN PARNELL, prime sponsor of SB 76, explained the
legislation simply amends the Executive Budget Act to make it clear
that the Legislature sets the policy with respect to budgeting. He
directed attention to language on pages 3 and 4 that requires a
truth in budgeting statement from the governor to be submitted with
the annual budget on December 15 of every year. He said the truth
in budgeting statement is really tangential to the bill and
unnecessary to the bill, and the amendment would delete that
language.
SENATOR LEMAN moved the adoption of the following amendment to SB
76:
Amendment No. 1
Page 3, line 31, through page 4, line 1: Delete "The copies shall
be accompanied by a statement of "Truth in Budgeting" prepared
under (e) of this section."
Page 4, lines 4 - 20: Delete all material.
Renumber the following bill sections accordingly.
Hearing no objection to the motion to adopt the amendment, CHAIRMAN
KELLY stated the amendment was adopted and would be incorporated
into a Rules CS.
SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent CSSB 76(RLS) be
approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing
no objection, it was so ordered.
