HB 17-DISABLED VETERANS: RETIREMENT BENEFITS 10:10:32 AM CHAIR KAWASAKI announced the consideration of HOUSE BILL NO. 17 "An Act relating to retirement benefits and military service." 10:11:01 AM REPRESENTATIVE GEORGE RAUSCHER, District 29, Alaska State Legislature, Juneau, Alaska, as sponsor he gave a recap of HB 17. He stated that HB 17 lets 100 percent disabled veterans retire up to five years early. It costs the state nothing and gives vets needed flexibility as their disabilities progress. 10:12:43 AM CHAIR KAWASAKI opened public testimony on HB 17; finding none, he closed public testimony. 10:13:06 AM CHAIR KAWASAKI solicited the will of the committee. 10:13:09 AM SENATOR BJORKMAN moved to report HB 17, work order 34-LS0233\A, from committee with individual recommendations and attached fiscal note(s). 10:13:26 AM CHAIR KAWASAKI found no objection and HB 17 was reported from the Senate State Affairs Standing Committee.
