Representatives Drummond and Patkotak had been excused from a call of the House today. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Representative Claman. Representative Thompson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. With deep respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer this prayer: God, Gather us this hour as a people of hope, in the face of adversity, as a community of justice, where we see inequity, as a faith for healing, in a world struggling between hardship and beauty. Knowing the world is not yet what it could be, teach us to not trip over small wants and grievances, when so many need us to be more than our smallest selves. God, open our hearts where we are closed; widen our vision where we become short-sighted; 2022-04-20 House Journal Page 2574 and let us speak out where silence has dominated our spirit. For too often we have been silent where there is pain. In the struggle for justice, may we gain strength in the soul-saving work, of living faithfully within our humanity, in community, with passion, and with love. Help us to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Foster. * * * * * Representative Tilton introduced Leif and Lillian Konrath-Bera, Guest Pages, from Chugiak, Alaska.
