AS 12.55.023 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: (c) If a victim does not give testimony, make an oral presentation, or submit a written statement at sentencing, the court shall, before accepting a plea agreement and imposing a sentence, question the prosecuting attorney to ensure that reasonable efforts were made to contact the victim." Renumber the following bill sections accordingly. Page 9, line 22: Delete "sec. 5" Insert "sec. 6" Representative Eastman moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. Representative Claman objected. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 1 be adopted?"
