There being no objection, it was so ordered. Representative Drummond moved and asked unanimous consent that she be allowed to abstain from voting because of a conflict of interest. Objection was heard, and Representative Drummond was required to vote. Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Gara: Page 5, line 27, following "law": Insert "; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature supports the provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act requiring insurers to cover people with preexisting medical conditions as many insurers have historically refused to cover people with serious medical conditions" Representative Gara moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. Representative Herron objected. Amendment to Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Herron: Delete "as many insurers have historically refused to cover people with serious medical conditions" Representative Herron moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment to Amendment No. 1 be adopted. Representative Gara objected. The question being: "Shall Amendment to Amendment No. 1 be adopted?" Representative Stoltze objected. Representative Gruenberg moved and asked unanimous consent that he be allowed to abstain from voting because of a conflict of interest. Objection was heard, and Representative Gruenberg was required to vote. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 2 be adopted?" There being no objection, it was so ordered. CSHJR 14(HSS) was read the third time. The question being: "Shall CSHJR 14(HSS) pass the House?"
