Full Journal pdf2009-03-27 Senate Journal Page 0675 Unfinished Business Reconsideration of House Resolutions HJR 19 Senator Dyson requested that the reconsideration on HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 19 Recognizing the 20th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez oil spill and supporting the continued practice of accompanying each oil tanker through Prince William Sound with at least a two vessel escort, be taken up. The resolution was before the Senate on reconsideration. Senator Dyson moved that the resolution be returned to second reading for the purpose of a specific amendment, that being Amendment No. 1. Without objection, the resolution was returned to second reading. Senator Dyson offered Amendment No. 1 : Replace Page 2, lines 16 - 18 with the following: BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature urges the United States Congress to reconsider elimination of two escort vessels, and other safety and environmental requirements that may be appropriate, proscribed for loaded single-hulled and double-hulled oil tankers in Prince William Sound. Senator Dyson moved for the adoption of Amendment No. 1. Senator Stedman objected. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 1 be adopted?"
