  "*Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended                                                           
by adding a new section to read:                                                                                                
          SUSPENSION OF SCHOOL EXPERIENCE FACTORS AS                                                                            
APPLICABLE TO SALARY SCHEDULES. (a) The provisions of                                                                           
AS 14.16.050(a)(3)(C) and AS 14.20.220, relating to school                                                                      
experience factors applicable to determine the salaries of employed                                                             
teachers, are suspended between July 1, 2009, and June 30, 2011.                                                                
          (b)  On or after July 1, 2011, the salary of a teacher whose                                                          
salary has been determined, taking into consideration the suspension                                                            
provided under (a) of this section, may not be reduced by the                                                                   
application of AS 14.16.050(a)(3) or AS 14.20.220 to an amount that                                                             
is less than the amount of the teacher's salary in effect on the last day                                                       
of the school term ending immediately before July 1, 2011."                                                                     
                                                                                                                                
Senator Huggins moved for the adoption of Amendment No. 1.
